Mount-Temple family estate papers, 1871-1918.

The collection contains property documents concerning the lands owned by William and Georgina Cowper-Temple, Baron and Baroness Mount-Temple. Items include indentures, sale and mortgage agreements, wills, rentals, valuations, and other documents relating to the couple's property holdings at the times of their deaths. Included are William Cowper-Temple's will (proved 1889), and land agreements (1871-1890); and Georgina Cowper-Temple's will (1902); estate papers for the Dublin estate (1915-1916), Palmerston estates, County Sligo, Ireland (1903-1915), Rathmines estate (1891), other estates (1902-1918), and the executors' acts on search of titles to land and renters; land agreements (1892-1900); and legal papers for the land disputes in the Francis M. Donnelly case (1890) and Lillian Blanche Georgina Pakenham case (1918).

William and Georgina Cowper-Temple were significant figures in nineteenth-century Britain. William Cowper-Temple, later Lord Mount Temple, was private secretary to one Prime Minister, Lord Melbourne, and minister in the government of Lord Palmerston.
